The former Yakima Bears team that have relocated to Hillsboro, OR will be known as the Hillsboro Hops. I’m not aware of any past teams known as the Hops, but the Hopkinsville Hoppers of the Kitty League come closest.
So is anyone else anticipating a rabbit mascot for this team?
It’s a reference to the herb used to flavor beer. Most hops grown in the US are from the Pacific Northwest, so there’s a connection. I anticipate a lot of drunken twenty-somethings at the games.

Yes, I realized that. I was just making a comment about how something like a rabbit would be a more family friendly mascot. I expect the team to focus on the beer aspect in attracting adults, but for bunny hops to attract the kids.
