Myrtle Beach Pelicans sign PDC with Cubs to 2016

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans have signed a player development contract with the Cubs to 2016.  This one did surprise me.  I knew the Cubs were planning on leaving the Florida State League, but I expect the Braves to go to Myrtle Beach.

At the High A level, there are still 5 teams available (Bakersfield, High Desert, Carolina, Lynchburg, Daytona) for the Reds, Mariners, Indians, Braves and Rangers.

If I had to guess how this will end up it would be:
Bakersfield – Mariners
High Desert – Rangers
Carolina – Braves
Lynchburg – Indians
Daytona – Reds

  1. Derek says:

I think the fact that the guy that owns the Rays has a kid in the Cubs’ front office probably helped grease those wheels.
