The Eugene Emeralds have extended their player development contract with the Cubs to 2018. This was a new affiliation last year and it’s a good sign that this renewal is coming at the beginning of the season since there are so many Short Season A PDCs that are expiring this year. It will also be interesting to see if any other major league teams make an attempt to gain a Short Season A team since there are only 22 for the 30 major league teams.

Hey Mike, the South Bend Cubs didn’t have an expiring PDC this year, but the Chicago Cubs still extended them to 2020 a couple of days ago: http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20160622&content_id=185580976&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_t550&sid=t550
Just a heads up in case it wasn’t on your radar.
I really enjoy your blog and have had your PDC page bookmarked for years. Always interesting to watch the musical chairs play out every two years. Thanks for keeping us updated and good luck on your continuing ballpark quest.
Thanks for the comment and letting me know about the PDC extension. I was a few days behind, but I just added this information to the site and the blog.
