Great Falls extends PDC with White Sox to 2014

I just found out that in June the Great Falls Voyagers extended their PDC with the White Sox to 2014.  I haven’t commented on the short season leagues yet, but I will soon.  The Appalachian League isn’t as interesting since most of teams are owned outright.

And my overly organizational mind still doesn’t quite understand why there are 20 Short Season A teams and 20 Rookie league teams.  To me, it would make a lot of sense to eliminate the Appalachian League and the Rookie level, and have each team with exactly one Short Season A team.  Each major league team could then have a Rookie league team at its training complex in Florida and Arizona.  Just don’t understand why things don’t line up with one affiliate at each level for each team.
